I GOT VENUS BACK
For years I heard the story about that Brazilian party, and until I downloaded this song today off Bearshare, I had thought it was apocryphal.
According to the tale, it was the wildest gringo party in Brazil's history. Situated at a secret millionnaire's estate immediately between an international speedway and the rainforest, the guests included Terrence McKenna, Bill Clinton, members of the Beatles and Nirvana, Dr. Israel Regardie, old movie actors like Ernest Borgnine, and various alternative rock characters that Kurt had managed to get in. Lux Interior from The Cramps came back from a hike, excitedly announcing he had found magic mushrooms in a swamp inside the jungle. After being approved by McKenna, the crowd eagerly tore into the fungi. About two hours later, this recording (download above) was made. Supposedly, it's Kurt on guitar, Ringo on drums, either Kim Gordon or Krist Novocelic on bass, Poison Ivy on second guitar, and Lux on animal noises. The lead vocals were provided by a very stoned and very old William Bendix, who made an utter fool of himself and eventually turned the audience against the all-star band.
